The base game was a race. Cities of Greed turns it into a war. This expansion for Lying Pirates dials up the pressure at the table by adding a layer of political chaos to an already chaotic voyage: you are no longer just bluffing and sailing, you are negotiating, bribing, provoking, and stabbing backs at exactly the right moment.
The expansion introduces Influence Cards that let you reward allies with coins or sabotage rivals at will, two new event tiles built around conflict and bluffing moments, a larger coin pool that fuels more Action Cards and wilder swings, and the Mayor's Die that grants powerful bonus actions to whoever controls it. City tiles can be claimed and exploited, alliances form and collapse, and the pace of the original game stays tight throughout. Rated 8.2 on BoardGameGeek.
