Your table's first trip into the Caves of Chaos starts here. Heroes of the Borderlands is the newest Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set from Wizards of the Coast, released in September 2025 and built to get 3 to 5 players, first-time Dungeon Masters included, playing fast. It heads back to the Keep on the Borderlands, the setting of one of D&D's most famous classic adventures, and packs it with board-game-style components so nobody has to learn everything before the first roll.

Play moves through three adventure modes, Combat, Exploration, and Roleplaying, each with its own style. Player boards for four iconic classes, card decks for species, backgrounds, spells, gear, and monsters, and a combat tracker that teaches new DMs how to run initiative keep the game moving.
