Two players. Five pieces each. One 5x5 grid. And a hand of Move cards that changes everything. Onitama is an abstract strategy game that strips chess down to its most essential tension, the battle of anticipation and adaptation, and delivers it in 15 minutes flat. Each player's pieces move only as the current Move cards allow, and after you use a card it passes to your opponent. The game you are playing is always becoming the game they are planning.
With sixteen unique Move cards in the deck and only five available per game, no two sessions of Onitama ever play identically. The goal is deceptively simple: capture your opponent's Master, or advance your own Master into their temple arch. The challenge is that getting there requires reading the cards, reading your opponent, and thinking several exchanges ahead. Dice Tower Essentials certified.
